From shelves and ornaments to coffee tables and lamps, you may have some brass items in your home, holiday let or workplace.
It’s important to know how to keep your brass belongings in a good condition and free from tarnish
to keep them looking at their best.
We’ve put together our top tips
for how to clean brass
to help you care for your brass items and keep them clean.
Before you start polishing or cleaning, you can double-check whether your item is brass or brass-plated by sticking a magnet
to it. If the magnet sticks, then it isn’t made from brass. If the magnet falls then you can get to work with our handy tips below!
Top tip: if your brass item has black spots on it and has never been polished, that may be due to varnish. In this case, stick to mild soap and water for cleaning.
How to Clean Brass with Toothpaste
