How to remove limescale naturally
Limescale is a white, hard substance that you often find in your kitchen or bathroom, particularly in areas that come into regular contact with water. The harder the water in your area, the more likely you are to have limescale in your property. But limescale isn’t just an eyesore, it can also clog up pipes and spouts and reduce the flow of water over time.

How to remove limescale naturally
How to remove limescale in the toilet
Limescale can easily build up in your toilet but you don’t have to rely on harsh chemicals to remove it.
Simply pour a litre of white vinegar around the bowl, ensuring that you reach badly affected areas. Leave for two hours (for particularly bad limescale, consider leaving the vinegar to work overnight) and then scrub using a toilet brush.
Flush the toilet to remove minerals and vinegar. Repeat this process until all limescale has been removed.
Top tip: Pour a little natural lemon juice or white vinegar into your toilet once a week. This will help to remove odours and prevent the build-up of limescale over time.
How to remove limescale in the kettle
The build-up of limescale can make your boiled water taste chalky and ‘off’ but fortunately, there are natural ways for removing limescale from your kettle.
Fill a third of the kettle with white vinegar or lemon juice and leave to settle for one hour. Then, top up the water in the kettle and boil it a few times. Once the water has cooled, rinse the kettle several times to remove any acidic residue.
Top tip: For stubborn limescale stains add a little baking soda to the water and vinegar mixture to create a fizzing reaction.
How to remove limescale from taps
Make your taps shine again without using chemicals with this effective natural paste.
Mix baking soda with a little fresh lemon juice to create a paste. Gently apply this paste onto the taps to cover all the limescale.
Leave the paste for thirty minutes. Wipe away with a damp cloth and thoroughly dry afterwards. Repeat as necessary until the limescale is removed.
